Adonis Stevenson vs. Thomas Williams Jr. is a puncher's battle

Light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson will turn 39 on Sept. 22 and he has not boxed in 10 months. That is not typically a good combination for a prize fighter.

But Stevenson said he has no worries about rust in his ring return, which will come when he makes his seventh title defense against fellow explosive puncher Thomas Williams Jr. in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions card on Friday (Spike, 9 p.m. ET) at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

"Last year, I think I did three or four fights. Now this year I'm going to fight two times, so my layoff will be good for me," Stevenson said during a recent teleconference with reporters to talk about the fight. "It's not a problem. I was in the gym every day. The layoff is not a problem for me because I'm always training."

Perhaps the layoff clouded Stevenson's memory because he actually only had two fights in 2015 as well as two in 2014. He did fight four times in 2013. That was the year he took the title off Chad Dawson by devastating first-round knockout in just 76 seconds.

Still, Stevenson, a Haiti native fighting out of his adopted hometown of Montreal, again reiterated his supposed busy 2015.

"I need to recover because in 2015 I fought like three or four times," he said. "Everything is good now. I'm ready to fight. I don't have injuries, so I'm ready now. Sometimes it's good to recover, to take a break and come back stronger."

Even when Stevenson (27-1, 22 KOs) has fought he has not exactly been tested as he has been matched relatively softly during most of his title reign. His last three defenses have come against overmatched Dmitry Sukhotsky (fifth-round knockout) in 2014, faded former super middleweight titlist Sakio Bika (clear-cut unanimous decision) 15 months ago and journeyman Tommy Karpency (third-round knockout) in an epic mismatch in September.

Day, trying to match Woods as the only back-to-back PGA winner since the event adopted stroke-play format in 1958, comes in with only one practice round and fighting illness as well as expectations.

“The bar has been raised ever since Tiger Woods came around,” Day said of the 14-time major winner out for the season after back surgery.

“Everyone expects if you’re in the lead or you’re a favourite to win, they expect you to win, and if you don’t, then you’re in a slump. It’s not the case. I think the bar has been raised. Once again the competition has got tougher.”

Day leads a nine-strong Australian contingent, joining Adam Scott, Marc Leishman, Marcus Fraser, Scott Hend, Matt Jones, Aaron Baddeley, John Senden and Greg Chalmers.

Open Golf live stream | How to watch The Open Championship golf for free

'Fore!' Golf is a stupid passtime. A way of spoiling a good walk and a good mood. So why not put (putt?) up your feet and let the professionals take the strain. The Open Championship is the greatest test of a golfer, this year at Royal Troon, a Links course that is a true test of a golfer. Over the course (geddit?) of four days the best golfers in the world will attempt to navigate that awesome course, and all that the elements can throw.

You can enjoy all the action wherever you are, by watching or listening online. However, this year in the UK for the first time ever The Open golf is not available free-to-air on the BBC, and is instead reserved exclusively for Sky Sports subscribers. Fear not: in this story we explain how to watch The 145th Open Championship for FREE, and how to listen to The 145th Open Championship online. Online, on laptop or PC, or on your smartphone or tablet. Watch an Open Golf live stream.

And remember that you can put anything on your laptop on to your TV - see How to connect a laptop to TV with HDMI and more. On with the show.
Watch The 145th Open Championship golf 2016 online: When is The Open golf?

The Royal Troon golf course, in Ayrshire, Scotland, will host the 2016 Open between 14 July and July 17. A mighty field of 156 of the best players in the world will set off very early in the morning of Thursday 14 July hoping to replace Zach Johnson as The Open champion.

Four rounds of golf on a Links course in all weathers is hard. So, for all the armchair golf fans, let's see how to watch The Open Championship online from wherever you are.
Watch The 145th Open Championship golf 2016: Open golf live stream

So, my UK readers. No live BBC coverage of The Open that you can watch from your desk without cost (other than the bandwidth). That's the bad news. The good is that Sky Sports golf coverage is excellent, and the broadcaster is going all in to make its Open coverage a success. And it is offering day one of the Open Golf for free.

The action will be shown live from the first tee off at 6.30am every morning, until the close of play. And, of course, you can access the action via a live stream.

Mindful of the negative reaction of golf fans who have had their sport taken away from them, and determined to attract new viewers, Sky Sports is showed the whole first day of the 2016 Open for free. Slight compensation for the fact that you'll have to be a paying Sky customer to watch the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It was available to watch on NOW TV, and you can still take advantage of this service on a temporary basis if you want to watch the Open. NOW TV is available on 60 devices and platforms, and allows consumers to buy day or week-long passes to Sky Sports instead of having to take out a longer subscription.

So Sky is hoping that watching the first day of Open golf action for free will convince golf fans to buy a pass for the rest of the tournament. Sky Sports NOW TV passes cost £6.99 for a day, £10.99 for a week, and £33.99 per month. So you could live stream the whole tournament for a little over a tenner (watching the first cricket Test Match between England and Pakistan at the same time). Just head over to www.nowtv.com to buy a week pass.

(And if you are in the US? Golf Channel and NBC Sports will be televising 49 and a half hours of live tournament coverage from Royal Troon, with nearly 140 hours of overall coverage. In addition to the traditional coverage, the two networks will showcase three live alternate feeds: marquee groups, featured holes (including the par-3 eighth, famously known as the Postage Stamp), and first-tee action.)
Listen to The 145th Open Championship golf 2016 online: Open golf live stream audio

The BBC may no longer be going golf crazy on TV. As a game of lulls, with drama spread out over 72 holes and four days of golf, The Open Championship suits audio coverage. The drama comes across clearly, and the gaps are filled with less serious chatter.

Starting with a previews at 7pm both the night before The Open starts and on Tuesday night, Five Live will provide coverage throughout The Open Championship. Each day from 10am the station will be given over to live commentary and updates, continuing until the close of play.

Open Golf Five Live

You can listen to live radio coverage on 5 Live, either online through TV, smartphone, laptop, PC or tablet, or via an actual radio. The best way to listen online is to navigate to the BBC Sport website, or install the BBC Sport app. Then navigate to Live Radio, and select the relevant programming.

Even if you aren't online, for any reason, you can pick up the golf by tuning in to 909 or 693 MW on your radio. The online coverage is limited to the UK and other territories that don't care about golf, for rights reasons. (See also: How to rip a DVD to Windows PC or Mac.)

Deontay Wilder has been undefeated so far in his career with a record of 36 wins with 35 knockouts and he will be hoping to defend his WBC title for the fourth time in a bout where he will go odds on favourite to win. Chris Arreola is not the same boxer who made headlines several years ago. His two defeats against Bermane Stiverne and poor performances in last two bouts against the likes of Travis Kauffman and Fred Kassi has put a strain on his ability to fight at top level. Having said that he still poses knockout power and that will be his only route to success if he were to surprise Wilder.

Game on! ‘Tecmo Bowl,’ ‘Punch-Out’ return with new Nintendo mini-NES

I may have been only nine years old when Tecmo Bowl came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, but I knew with every bit of real-world knowledge I had gained to that point in life that it was the most realistic football game that would ever be created by mankind.

My love for the National Football League didn’t really begin until I was nearly 11 years old when the New York Giants upended the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl, but it was Tecmo Bowl that began my love for the game of football.

It was easy to fall in love with the sport through that game. You could pick out of 12 teams (heck, I was nine — I didn’t know there were more than 12 teams anyway), and you could go to town against the computer or against a friend. Ignore the fact that there were only nine players on each side of the ball. Heck, that’s probably why I coach eight-man football now.

For me, the team to pick in Tecmo Bowl was Bo Jackson and the Los Angeles Raiders that were the team of choice in those early years. Bo knows how to break tackles, that’s for sure. Plus, being just a kid, it was awesome to have only four plays to pick from. These days in games like Madden, which are amazing, mind you, the selection can almost be overwhelming for new players.

But new players (and old, ornery players like myself) can rejoice — PRAISE THE GAMING GODS! — because Tecmo Bowl is coming back. And that’s just one of 30 original NES games that will be available on the newly announced Nintendo mini-NES, which will be available beginning Nov. 11.

What other games will be coming, you ask? Well, I’m glad you did, because, frankly, I was going to tell you anyway.

Nintendo announced that the miniature system will come with 30 games pre-installed, and those games will include such sports favorites as Punch-Out!! and Excitebike, as well as non-sports games.

Oh, you care about those, too? Fine — here’s a list (don’t say I’ve never done anything nice for you):

    DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE

    FINAL FANTASY
    Galaga
    GHOSTS’N GOBLINS
    GRADIUS
    Ice Climber

The classic controller that comes with the mini-NES can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on the Wii U or Wii console, according to Nintendo.

The Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii console. Simply connect it to a Wii Remote controller to make the experience that much more authentic. Players needn’t worry about losing any hard-earned progress either as each game has multiple suspend points, allowing them to start where they left off at a later time, no passwords needed.

I’m sure that’s easier than it sounds. It won’t matter to me though, because I’ll likely never stop playing Tecmo Bowl, Mario Bros. (the original one, down in the sewers) and NINJA GAIDEN.

So get ready to get your game on come November when you can challenge your older brother to a rematch of all those games he kicked your butt on when you were kids.

Oh, yeah — and I get winner.

The Postage Stamp at Royal Troon is the most dangerous short hole in Europe

Tiger Woods triple-bogeyed the hole in 1997, sinking his chance at the Open Championship. Greg Norman played all of Royal Troon perfectly on the final day of the Open in 1989 -- except for a bogey on 8 that guaranteed his unfortunate playoff. This year, Bubba Watson raced out to the tournament lead (5-under par through 7 holes) before a triple bogey on 8 brought him back to Earth.

It is the Postage Stamp: a mere 123 yards from the tee to the farthest edge of the tiny green, something that should be an easy wedge or 9-iron for birdie, but is instead a haunted funhouse of grave-like bunkers and whipping Scottish wind. Saving par is a challenge that requires patience, precision and more than a little luck. Its reputation as the most dangerous short hole in Europe is well-deserved, and its infamous legend will only grow at this year's Open at Royal Troon.

British Open TV schedule 2016: Start time for Friday's second round at Royal Troon

British Open TV schedule 2016: Start time for Friday's second round at Royal Troon
There has never been a major championship broadcast from the very first tee shot until the finish on Sunday afternoon, until this year. Golf Channel and NBC are making their Open Championship debut this week at Royal Troon, and it's the first time ever at a major for Golf Channel. Because it's, well, the golf channel, this is pretty much their entire week, so they opted to go live right from the very start.

Golf Channel is back at it again on Friday, coming on the air at 1:30 a.m. ET for "Game 1" as the term goes at The Open. So if you were still up, or for some insane reason (like me), just getting up for the day, you saw Greg Chalmers lead it all off in the second round. Now, if you're just getting up at a normal hour back in the States, you still have a good seven or eight hours of golf ahead of you.

The good news for the American audience is that the top names in the game are all also playing during this morning stretch. We got Phil Mickelson's run at setting a new major championship scoring record in the same late window on Thursday, and now we'll get the full "Big Three" out there on Friday. Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Jason Day are all playing in the same wave in this first two rounds at Royal Troon. Their tee times are all in about a 30-minute cluster around 9 a.m. ET. So expect their three groups, especially Rory and Jordan, who are both lurking, to get a lot of the love and coverage from the Golf Channel cameras.

It's supposed to get ugly on Friday over at Troon, with the sun gone and the wind and rain picking up for some "proper Scottish golf." No one should come close to Mickelson's round of 63 on Thursday, and they should be happy with anything that's in the red. The conditions are not fun to play in, but quite fun to watch. It's a totally different and unique challenge for these players and one we're not used to seeing week-in and week-out on the American tours.

The broadcast is scheduled to run almost 14 hours. The pace of play on Thursday was pretty quick, and the final groups finished up well before 4 p.m. ET back in the U.S. But again, this is Golf Channel so they're pretty flexible to go back and forth from the official Open broadcast to what would be their typical Live From postgame show.

British Open 2016 live streaming: How to watch Round 2 at Royal Troon online

Welcome to British Open 2016 live streaming: How to watch Round 2 at Royal Troon online
Let's be honest with ourselves for a moment: it's a Friday in July and you probably don't need to be especially productive at work today. Aiding and abetting that desire to avoid your occupational duties are 14 hours of major championship golf, all of which is available across four different streams that you can sneakily pull up at your desk (or wherever you are).

The Open Championship is the most unique major in golf, and it's an especially big change up for the American audience watching time zones away. It would be brutal if this were the schedule each and every week in golf, but it's just one major week per year! Embrace the middle-of-the-night and breakfast golf. It's a good thing to wake up, have the best players in the world already into their round, and then avoid all your work to watch sports.

For the first time ever at a major, Golf Channel is broadcasting from the very first tee shot until the conclusion on Sunday afternoon. They're coming on the air right from the jump with "Game 1" as they call it at The Open. Typically, the TV coverage would not start a couple hours into the round, skipping the first handful of groups. But this is Golf Channel's first major championship, and they're going all out in conjunction with their sister network, NBC.

In addition to the expanded TV coverage, there's also a full menu of streams running concurrent to the broadcast. We get the usual marquee groups and featured holes streams, but there's also a "First Tee" stream up and running as every single group comes through the opening hole at Royal Troon. And, as always, Golf Channel has a simulcast stream up and running of their entire 14-hour broadcast, from the start to finish.

The afternoon, or morning if you'e in the States, portion of the tee sheet will feature the biggest names in the game right now. The "Big Three" of Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, and Jordan Spieth are all clustered in about a 30-minute stretch of tee times, right around 9 a.m. ET. So that's an easy way to dodge your work through lunch. Day, along with Rickie Fowler and Masters winner Danny Willett, will be on the marquee groups stream during that stretch.

So let's ease our way into this weekend watching the players get punished in rough conditions over in Scotland -- here are all your media options for this second round at Royal Troon:

FORMULA 1 BAKU, AZERBAIJAN 2016 GRAND PRIX 19 JUNE

A new road circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan 2016 is the setting for this season's F1 European Grand Prix 2016. This comes just a couple years after F1 added a race in Sochi, Russia. The 2 countries are same in their desires to available a more upscale, alluring front to the rest of the world, and adding a F1 race is absolutely one road to do it.

All people will be on the 2 Mercedes racer,L.Hamilton and N.Rosberg, during Saturday's qualifying session. Of course, abundant will also be looking at Ferrari's S.Vettel, specially after he pushed Lewis Hamilton so hard in the Canadian Grand Prix 2016 last week.

At that run S.Vettel, who had qualified in 3rd behind a front row Mercedes lockout, took both cars in front of him around the 1st corner to win the race lead. The lead didn't hold though, especially as Mercedes managed to get Hamilton on a one-stop tire tactics that paid off with a race win. Nico Rosberg, who had qualified in 2nd,was pushed off by his teammate in the 1st turn and fell back into 10th.

Details:

Location: Baku City Circuit, Baku, Azerbaijan
Time: 9 a.m. ET
TV: NBCSN

Nico Rosberg wound up finishing in 5th place for that race. Lewis Hamilton took 1st,with Sebastian Vettel second and V.Bottas giving Williams their 1st podium of the year in 3rd.D.Ricciardo of Red Bull complete down in seventh, a letdown after the Renault-powered car challenged the Mercedes in Monaco the week prior.

Still, D.Ricciardo's young teammate, M.Verstappen, finished in fourth in Canada and many will be hoping that Ferrari and Red Bull can once again push Mercedes in both qualifying and on run day Sunday. Lewis Hamilton is now just nine points away from his teammate in the driver's championship. Sebastian Vettel and D.Ricciardo aren't far behind, either.

The College World Series has started and you should be watching it

Listen, we know it’s tough to catch up on everything happening in the baseball world each morning. There are all kinds of stories, rumors, game coverage and Vines of dudes getting hit in the beans every day. Trying to find all of it while on your way to work or sitting at your desk just isn’t easy. It’s okay, though, we’re going to do the heavy lifting for you each morning, and find the things you need to see from within the SB Nation baseball network, as well as from elsewhere. Please hold your applause until the end, or at least until after you subscribe to the newsletter.

Back in the first weekend of June, the first pitch of the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament was thrown, and 64 of college baseball’s best teams started upon their journey towards Omaha. Now, eight teams have reached the promised land at TD Ameritrade Stadium and are currently in the 2016 College World Series. Two weekends of Regionals and Super Regionals have now come down to everyone’s favorite double-elimination baseball tournament, and it should be plenty of fun to watch.

That prediction is being made due to the fact that the tournament up until this point has definitely been intriguing. The SEC went into this tournament with a record four national seeds, but now there’s only one representative left from the conference — Florida. Granted, they’re still probably the strongest team left, and they also include the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft in A.J. Puk, but with the way that this exciting tournament has gone so far, they definitely aren’t a shoo-in to roll through the College World Series and lift the trophy in the end.

The Gators will have to contend with the No. 3 national seed in the form of the bat-flipping Miami Hurricanes, the No. 5 national seed in the form of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, two teams who have yet to lose a game so far in this tournament (Oklahoma State and the Cinderella story of the tournament, UC Santa Barbara) and three teams who took out heavily-favored SEC opposition at the Super Regionals (Coastal Carolina, TCU, and Arizona). You don’t make it to Omaha via fluke, and all eight teams have definitely earned the right to be here. The action continues today at 3 p.m ET and it should be an exciting continuation of what will hopefully be an incredibly intriguing week or so of college baseball.

Yordano Ventura had his suspension reduced by one game after he agreed to drop his appeal, so he'll be out for only eight games instead of nine.

Meanwhile, the Royals absolutely pounded the Tigers on Saturday night, and as a result, Andrew Romine had to pitch. This is the eighth position that he’s played this season!

The Rangers pulled off a dramatic comeback in order to beat the Cardinals and keep their awesome start rolling along.

The Giants wore their sweet throwbacks (and the Rays wore their cool "faux-backs"), and apparently this inspired Joe Panik to come through in a clutch situation.

James Shields has struggled mightily for his past few starts, and it was the same old story on Saturday.

The Freak is back! Tim Lincecum made his return to the big leagues on Saturday by shutting down the A’s over six innings of work.

Dusty Baker has publicly admitted that one of his most important relievers is having a rough go of it right now.

Of all of the Brewers who could be Milwaukee’s most valuable trade chip, nobody figured that at this point, it would be Aaron Hill.

The currently-injured Kyle Schwarber has been involved in trade rumors, but it seems as if he won’t be on the move anytime soon.

Cavaliers vs. Warriors odds, NBA Finals Game 7: Cleveland underdogs at Golden State in clincher

The Golden State Warriors are 14-2 straight up and 10-6 against the spread in their last 16 games coming off a loss. The Warriors will need one more bounce-back win to defend their NBA championship this Sunday night when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7.

Golden State is a 5-point home favorite in Game 7 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The spread hasn't been a factor in the NBA Finals this season with all six games in this series being decided by 11 points or more.

Draymond Green's return did little to slow down Cleveland's suddenly red-hot offense as the Warriors allowed 115 points in a 115-101 loss as 2-point road underdogs in Game 6.

Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry combined for 55 points in the loss, but Leandro Barbosa was the only other player on the team to reach double-digits with 14. For the second straight game, starter Harrison Barnes was extremely ineffective, scoring zero points in 16 minutes with an 0-of-8 shooting day.

The Warriors return home for Game 7, where they are 13-2 SU and 12-3 ATS in 15 postseason games according to the OddsShark NBA Database. Historically, home teams have dominated Game 7s in the NBA Finals with a 15-3 SU record all-time.

With 41 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists, LeBron James once again completely dominated the Warriors as he did in Game 5. The clear star of the series has already done enough to lock up NBA Finals MVP in the eyes of many regardless of what happens or who wins in Game 7.

Andrew Bogut's absence helped open the door for Tristan Thompson to dominate inside the paint with a 6-of-6 shooting day and 16 rebounds. Cleveland is 15-5 SU and 12-8 ATS this postseason.

Sunday night's total is set at 206.5 points. The UNDER is 5-1-1 in Golden State's last seven home playoff games.

James has willed the Cavaliers into a Game 7, and suddenly his team has all of the momentum heading into the big game. But Golden State has home court and two of the best shooters of all time in Curry and Thompson on its side. The entire NBA season comes down to one last game on Sunday.

Dustin Johnson defeats Oakmont, USGA foolishness to win 2016 U.S. Open

Dustin Johnson is your 2016 U.S. Open champion. USATSI

With a 69 in the final round at Oakmont Country Club, on Sunday Dustin Johnson claimed the 2016 re U.S. Open, his first major championship, and forever changed the narrative of his career.

One year after his gut-wrenching three-putt to finish second at Chambers Bay, Johnson rallied back from a four-shot deficit entering the final round to shoot an under-par round, while the rest of the leaders wilted under the pressure and difficulty of Oakmont.

Johnson's win was not without plenty of drama, because nothing can be easy for him at a major. On the fifth green, his ball moved as he was getting ready to putt. At the time, it was deemed not to be a penalty, and he moved on. However, on the 12th tee with a two stroke lead, he was approached by a USGA official who informed him they would be reviewing the tape with him after the round to see if he should incur a stroke penalty.

That decision stunned many and drew heavy criticism from stars of the game like Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth. It was a moment that could have derailed Johnson's round. He was 2 under for his round at the time and was entering the toughest stretch of holes at Oakmont, when all of a sudden he had to think about whether he might lose a stroke at the end of his round.

He made a bogey on 14 and was briefly tied for the lead with Shane Lowry, the 54-hole leader, but Johnson rallied back with some clutch par saves on 15, 16 and 17 before showing up to the 18th and demolishing the hole that only one other person had birdied on Sunday.

He piped a drive and then hit this approach from the fairway -- after someone's phone went off as he addressed the ball and forced him to step away.

Pure.

Johnson made his birdie putt to put an exclamation point on his round and leave no doubts about the result, no matter the USGA's decision -- which of course was to give him the stroke penalty, despite less than convincing evidence.

It didn't matter. Nothing could spoil that moment for Dustin Johnson. He's a major champion. A U.S. Open champion. Neither the USGA nor anyone else can ever take that away from him.

Thanks for stopping by our CBS Sports live blogs throughout the U.S. Open at Oakmont.

Penguins take their Stanley Cup dreams back to Pittsburgh after 3-1 Game 4 victory

With their 3-1 victory in Game 4, the Penguins head back home to Pittsburgh just a win away from hoisting the Stanley Cup. A low-scoring affair favored the Penguins as Evgeni Malkin had a goal and an assist in the win that has the Sharks on the brink.

Matt Murray made 23 saves and was key for the Penguins in preserving their lead in the third period.

Ian Cole opened the scoring for the Penguins 7:36 into the game for his first career postseason goal. Roman Polak was taken out of the play while finishing a check, which gave Phil Kessel time and space to enter the Sharks' zone. A big rebound from Martin Jones popped right out to Cole at the left face-off dot, and he fired the wrister home blocker side for the 1-0 score.

Though the Sharks finally outshot the Penguins in the first period 8-6, the Penguins came back to hold the Sharks to no shots through the first nine minutes of the second. Pittsburgh then widened their lead to 2-0 just seconds into a power play. Malkin got his first goal of the series on a deflection at the side of the cage, as the Sharks left the dangerous Penguins forward wide-open on the chance.

Murray stood tall in the third period but was finally beat by Melker Karlsson after the puck got lost in a scramble in front. Karlsson took a turnover from Cole and while falling down beat Murray blocker side to cut the Penguins lead to 2-1 at 8:07 of the period.

Eric Fehr capped off the game for the Penguins, putting away a 2-on-1 puck top shelf after a defensive breakdown for the Sharks had the forward streaking in all alone on Jones.

The Sharks were unable to pot another goal in the third to tie the game and the series. Game 5 will take place in Pittsburgh on Thursday.

TIGER WOODS: JASON DAY AND I 'GIVE EACH OTHER CRAP'

Tiger Woods, the 14-time major champion, has been passing on his wisdom to world No. 1 Jason Day, but explained how the pair also “give each other crap.”

Speaking at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, Woods was asked about his relationship with the 28-year-old Australian.

“JD and I talk quite a bit, it could be a text or a telephone call,” he said. “Some of it’s advice, most of it’s giving each other crap. We love to needle at each other a lot.

“All I say is, ‘I’m not going to tell you how your game can get better. Ask it the other way round of how I get it, and I’ll answer it that way because I don’t want to say ‘you should do this or you should do that’. I don’t think that’s the correct way of going about it.”

Day, who is dominating the sport like Woods used to, has said that the American has taken him “under his wing” with tips on how to close out tournaments.

“Jason asks great questions, very in-depth questions, and he wants to get better,” Woods said. “He has a great family with his two kids and works extremely hard. And he’s trying to figure out how he can get better as a player, especially with having a family and traveling.

Usain Bolt visits Germany for hamstring, set to race Blake, Powell

Usain Bolt visited a German doctor for “slight discomfort” in one of his hamstrings after his first race since Aug. 29 in the Cayman Islands on Saturday, his coach said, according to Reuters.

Bolt grimaced as he crossed the finish line to win in a pedestrian 10.05 seconds Saturday and later called it “rusty.”

“I think he has a slight discomfort in his hamstring, so he didn’t bother push it after that, but he’ll be all right,” coach Glen Mills said on Jamaican radio on Monday, according to the report. “He’s in Germany as we speak, and the doctors say he will be fine.”

Bolt, who dealt with a reported ankle injury in winter training, is scheduled to race a 100m in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on Friday.

Bolt’s next scheduled race after that is a 100m in Kingston, Jamaica, on June 11.

There, he will face the two biggest domestic rivals of his career — former world-record holder Asafa Powell and Olympic 100m and 200m silver medalist Yohan Blake, according to the Racers Track Club, which is putting on the meet.

Bolt, Powell and Blake, three of the four fastest men of all time, were last in the same race in the 2012 Olympic 100m final. Bolt and Blake last went head-to-head in the 2012 Olympic 200m final.

WHY IT'S NOT SURPRISING THAT THERE ARE NOW NO HISPANIC OR LATINO MANAGERS IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

With nine wins and 28 losses, the Atlanta Braves are the worst team in Major League Baseball. As often happens when a team struggles so mightily, ownership has decided to fire the team's manager.

Fredi González, who had managed the club since 2011, is out; Brian Snitker, previously of the franchise's AAA affiliate, is in (at least for the interim). It's not unusual that the person in charge of a team that started the season with such a poor record has been relieved of his duties. What is unusual is that Gonzalez, a Cuban-American, was the last Latino or Hispanic manager in all of Major League Baseball. Now there are none.

More so than any other sport, baseball is beholden to tradition. It is conservative. It is stubborn. It is resistant to change. No one has any trouble acknowledging this in the context of how the game is played, or even its oft-controversial "unwritten rules." What is harder to acknowledge is the degree to which this conservatism pervades the values of those within the game. White people have always been at the top of the game's decision-making—and thus managerial—hierarchy, and this continues to be the case into the 21st century.

JOSE MOURINHO ‘A MATTER OF HOURS’ FROM MANCHESTER UNITED JOB: REPORT

Jose Mourinho is just hours away from being appointed Manchester United manager, according to sources in Italy.

The former Chelsea manager has been in Mexico taking charge of a team of FIFA legends against a Mexico All Star XI, in a favor to new FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

But the epic saga of Mourinho and the United job, currently held by Louis Van Gaal, could soon be at an end.

While noting there is, as yet, no formal agreement between the Old Trafford club and the 53-year-old, Sky Italia claims a deal could be sealed in a “matter of hours.”

Late on Thursday evening, Alessandro Alciato, the respected Italian football journalist, tweeted “Mourinho-United” to signify a break in the impasse that has lasted since December 2015.

Van Gaal has only a slim chance of leading United into the UEFA Champions League for next season, with the club two points behind Manchester City heading into the final day of the season.

United needs to beat Bournemouth at Old Trafford and hope City loses away at Swansea, or it will miss out on Europe’s elite club competition for the second time in three years.

Ed Woodward, the United executive vice chairman, faces a tricky conference call on Friday lunchtime as he attempts to explain to United’s investors about why the club has fallen from its perch atop Europe’s elite in the era post Sir Alex Ferguson.

MANCHESTER UNITED: THE BIG NAME TRANSFER TARGETS WHO GOT AWAY

Jose Mourinho reports swirl around Old Trafford, picking up speed and turning endless circles with last night’s chip paper.

In a bunker in the northwest of England, Ed Woodward, the Manchester United executive vice chairman, prepares to explain to investors just why the club looks set to miss Champions League football for the second time in three seasons.

Perhaps, in his idler moments, the chartered accountant might consider the constituent parts of United’s demise.

Try Newsweek for only $1.25 per week

And he might then come to reflect on just why such an inordinate number of big-name transfer targets have slipped through United’s buttery fingers in the past few seasons.

Cesc Fabregas

United made a bid for the former Arsenal midfielder in 2013, believed to be around £25 million ($36 million). Fabregas was relatively happy at Barcelona, but he wanted more first-team football. United thought it could lure the Spaniard with a pretty package of wages.

But Fabregas, after initially batting his lashes in the direction of Old Trafford, demurred, eventually moving to Chelsea the next summer.

Not entirely United’s fault—but definitely, one who got away.

Gareth Bale

Another one who wriggled away, and is still wriggling, temptingly, on the end of the line. United and Real Madrid were Bale’s two suitors in the summer of 2013, throwing confetti money at the Welshman who was leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

Jonathan Barnett, Bale’s agent then and now, told AS, the Spanish newspaper, in 2014 that United had actually bid more for the player than Madrid did—which was upwards of £80 million to start with.

So why is Bale not a United player? Well, Madrid had always been the Welshman’s dream destination, and in the end, Bale simply felt more loved and desired in the Spanish capital. And we all, in the end, gravitate towards a place of greater love.

Almost three years on, though, United’s desire has hardly abated.

Thiago Alcantara

This was messy. Sir Alex Ferguson had wanted the stylish midfielder before the great Scot retired at the end of the 2012-13 season; that wish was passed on to the next, unfortunate occupant of the United hotseat, David Moyes.

United spent much of the summer of 2013 trying to convince Thiago to come to Old Trafford, yet despite the clear desire, the Spaniard revealed in December 2015 that there had never been any “firm proposal” made by the Premier League club. He moved to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013.

Renato Sanches

This could include Mats Hummels, the former Borussia Dortmund defender who moved to Bayern Munich this week. But Sanches, the teenager, was meant to be one of the crown jewels in this summer’s rebuilding plan. Instead, he has gone from Benfica to Bayern Munich for far less than the price United was quoted, though add-ons may eventually make up most of the deal.

The 18-year-old has been watched by United’s scouts since January; as an all-action box-to-box midfielder, he might have been exactly what the club wanted if it wanted to replace Michael Carrick this summer.

MANCHESTER UNITED: COULD DAVID DE GEA MOVE BEFORE JULY?

Manchester United could lose out on more than one of the world’s elite managers if it chooses not to appoint Jose Mourinho this summer.

That’s because one of the club’s prize assets in David De Gea is reportedly set to leave Old Trafford should Louis Van Gaal see out the final season on his three-year contract, with the two failing to see eye to eye.

De Gea, the Spaniard who signed for United in the summer of 2011, can move to Real Madrid this summer for €50 million (£39 million) according to AS, the Spanish sports newspaper.

That figure is believed to be the release clause in the player’s contract. De Gea has been United’s Player of the Season for the past two years, but he almost moved to Madrid, the city of his birth, last summer only for delays in the paperwork to prevent the transfer from going through at the last moment.

Those Spanish reports say the clause must be activated before June 15, which may lead to complications as De Gea has an FA Cup final to play against Crystal Palace on Saturday, followed by UEFA Euro 2016 in France with the Spanish national squad, which begins on June 10.

If Madrid is priced out of a move for De Gea, it could also turn to Thibaut Courtois, whose stock remains high despite a relatively poor season, by his high standards, for a Chelsea team that has struggled in the English Premier League.

Balotelli could resurrect career in Barcelona

The future of AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli could be in Barcelona, but not with the current European and Spanish champions, as cross-city rivals Espanyol are eying a move.

After a disappointing season with the Rossoneri following his loan move from Premier League club Liverpool during last summer's transfer window, the 25-year-old Italy international could be set for a spell in La Liga.

Balotelli's career has stalled since leaving Manchester City in 2013, and the former Inter player registered just one league goal to his name during 20 Serie A appearances this season. Spanish Radio station RAC report that the Periquitos are interested in landing the striker, but only if the Merseyside club pay his substantial wages.

Meanwhile, the Diavolo have not yet decided whether to renew the forward's loan deal and have already reportedly turned down Liverpool's offer of an exchange involving France international striker M'Baye Niang according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Reds are monitoring the 21-year-old, and will be represented at the Stadio Olimpico to watch him during the Milan's Coppa Italia final clash against Juventus on Saturday evening.

Van Gaal booed as Man Utd sign off in fifth

Manchester (United Kingdom) (AFP) - Louis van Gaal was booed by his club's own fans after Manchester United ended their Premier League campaign by beating Bournemouth 3-1 in Tuesday's re-arranged Old Trafford fixture.

In a game carried over from Sunday following a postponement caused by the discovery of a fake bomb accidentally left behind during a terror training exercise, United needed a 19-goal victory in order to steal past Manchester City into the fourth and final Champions League qualifying berth.

Goals from Wayne Rooney, 18-year-old Marcus Rashford, named in England's provisional Euro 2016 squad a day earlier, and substitute Ashley Young secured the three points, but it was only enough to lift Van Gaal's side above Southampton into fifth place.

Introduced to the crowd for a post-match address, the Dutchman was booed by pockets of the home support, before declaring, somewhat ironically: "I want to thank you for your unconditional support."

As Bournemouth's fans goaded him with chants of "You're getting sacked in the morning!", Van Gaal added: "You never let us down. Thank you for that. We will bring the FA cup home to you. You deserve it. Thank you."

The result secured a Europa League group place for United, while Saturday's FA Cup final against Crystal Palace may yet yield a piece of silverware.

But it was a tame end to the season, at a two-thirds full stadium, which laid bare United's stagnation under Van Gaal. The lap of appreciation that followed his address was cursory.

His Bournemouth counterpart, Eddie Howe, has enjoyed a much more encouraging season.

The south-coast club, who replied courtesy of a stoppage-time Chris Smalling own goal, finished their first ever top-flight campaign in 16th place.

But Howe said that Sunday's events had proved problematic.

"It was quite difficult, mentally," he said. "We did our best, but Man United were too good for us."

Fans arriving at Old Trafford spoke of their anger and frustration over Sunday's cancellation, which left visiting supporters facing two 500-mile (800-kilometre) round trips in three days.

The atmosphere inside and outside the stadium was subdued and there were visible signs of dissent against the unpopular Van Gaal.

One banner read held up by fans read: "TIME TO GO LOUIS! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!"

Once again occupying a withdrawn midfield role, Rooney did his best to get United going by spraying passes around from deep, but it was not until the 32nd minute that the hosts threatened, with Michael Carrick just failing to get a telling touch on Rooney's free-kick.

United went ahead two minutes before half-time with a goal completely out of keeping with what had come before.

Anthony Martial, as so often, was the instigator, swapping passes with Juan Mata and cutting the ball square towards Rashford, whose clever dummy allowed Rooney to tuck home his first goal since February 2 and his 100th in the league at Old Trafford.

United emerged from their slumber after the interval.

Mata was unfortunate not to win a penalty after Steve Cook bundled into him from behind, while Carrick rattled the bar with a deflected 25-yard effort and Antonio Valencia drew a soaring save from Bournemouth goalkeeper Adam Federici from even further out.

Jesse Lingard also shot narrowly wide and Mata -- omitted from Spain's Euro 2016 squad earlier in the day -- tested Federici after cutting inside onto his right foot and dispatching a low shot.

With 16 minutes to play the hosts made it 2-0. Rooney's flighted pass was nodded back by Valencia and Rashford beat Federici with a crisp, low strike for the eighth goal of his 17-game United career.

Rooney released Young to smuggle a shot past Federici with three minutes to play, but there was still time for Smalling to shin the ball into his own net from Max Gradel's shot, depriving United goalkeeper David de Gea of a 16th clean sheet that would have seen him share the Golden Glove with Arsenal's Petr Cech.

Scouting the Sharks

San Jose will have the chance to build on their strong Game 1 with hopefully more goals past Brian Elliott. The Sharks allowed only 23 Blues shots to their 32, and with 16 in the second period, it's a wonder why they weren't able to get just one through. The power play went 0-for-3 on Sunday, but have no fear, Sharks fans -- the special teams are just fine.

Scouting the Blues

The Blues were held in check by their first opponent in these playoffs that matches their grinding, tough-hitting style of play. Elliott came up big, once again, with 31 stops, and the rest of the team will want to build upon the strength of their goaltender in Game 2. The ice tilted favorably toward the Sharks for the second half of Game 1, and it wouldn't hurt the Blues to maintain more sustained pressure in the offensive zone going forward.

Watch The MLB Playoffs 2016 Live Stream Online HD

The MLB Playoffs kick off with the AL Wild Card Game on October 6. What will follow will surely be one of the more exciting Octobers in recent years. There are numerous storylines going into this year’s playoffs that will be awesome to see play out. Will Alex Rodriguez ignore all of the negativity and shine during a Yankee Playoffs run we have not seen in years? Will the Royals, who won the AL Central division for the first time ever this year, be able to match the run to the World Series they made last year? Can Clayton Kershaw get over the playoff hump and take the Dodgers for a deep run?

These storylines and many others will certainly be exciting to watch, and if you don’t have a cable subscription you’ll want to make sure you are prepared to not miss any of the action. Thankfully, each year, there are more and more options to watch the MLB Playoffs online on all of your devices and TV without a pricey cable subscription. Here is a detailed look at all of your best options for legal MLB Playoffs live stream.

During the entire postseason, Sling TV, a streaming service launched earlier this year by Dish Network, will be one of the top options to watch MLB playoff baseball online or on your TV. The subscription service provides live streams of over 20 popular cable channels including ESPN, TBS, TNT, and AMC. The AL Wild Card game will be broadcast on ESPN and all of the NL playoff games (NL Wild Card, NLDS, and NLCS) will be on TBS.  The service starts at just $20 per month, requires no contract, and can be watch on your phone, tablet, computer, or even your TV through a connected device.

But what about the games airing on FOX networks? Thankfully, Sling TV has recently launched its brand new multi-stream beta package of channels that carries FS1, regional FOX Sports networks (lets you watch your local MLB team in many US markets), and local FOX affiliates (select markets). With this bundle, you get more than 30 channels. The multi-stream beta package can be purchased by itself or added on top of the Best of Live TV bundle that has the ESPN channels and others. Click here for more info on channel availability.

Read my Sling TV review for more info.

You can watch the entire first week of the postseason for free if you take advantage of Sling TV’s ongoing free 7-day trial offer.

Plan on keeping up with the action throughout the Playoffs? If you pay in advance for three months of the subscription, you will receive a free Roku 2 or 50% off a Roku 3 player. By the time your three months are up, both streaming devices will have paid for themselves and you would’ve been able to watch the entire MLB Playoffs and then some. These streaming devices will connect directly to your TV, meaning you can watch the MLB Playoffs online or kick back and watch it on the big screen in the living room!

Want to keep on top of your favorite MLB teams while you’re away from home? T-Mobile and Sling TV have just teamed up to give T-Mobile customers the deal of a lifetime — pay $14/month for the Best of Live TV package (usually $20/month) for up to 12 full months. You can cancel at anytime without worrying about any hidden costs, and you won’t be tied to Wifi-only locations as T-Mobile’s Binge On feature allows T-Mobile users to stream videos without it counting towards their data. Learn more about this offer here and get started watching Sling TV on your mobile phone today.

Use Postseason.TV for Unique MLB Playoffs Live Stream

Once again this year, the MLB will be making great strides to further its efforts to broadcast games over the internet. It will be offering its Postseason.TV again, which will let subscribers watch the MLB playoff games online throughout October. All of the 2015 NL Playoffs games will be broadcast on a live stream that will offer 10 different camera angles. MLB is calling it an alternate angle broadcast, meaning it won’t be the same camera angle shown on TV and it won’t have the commentary from the broadcast. But, it will be providing users with the option of choosing their preferred angle, and they can even pick four to watch at one time.

The MLB Playoffs live stream can be picked up and watched either on your computer or mobile device. They will also not be subject to the traditional blackout restrictions of regular season and other playoff games. This means you should be able to watch most of the playoff games with this one service. The price is $4.99 for the postseason.

Watch MLB Playoffs Online On-Demand with MLB.TV

MLB.TV has made the decision to reduce the price of its MLB.TV premium service for the rest of the regular season and Playoffs. Now, for $9.99 total, you can watch all playoff games on demand and select games live (live games require authentication with your cable provider). You’ll also get 2016 spring training games free with this deal. The service cannot show most Playoffs games live, due to blackout restrictions, but the replays will be posted 90 minutes after each game is final. For the price, MLB.TV is a great option if you don’t mind missing the live games, but watching the games on replay. On top of the on-demand games MLB.TV other services including its At Bat app and tons of highlights and analysis will be available to subscribers the rest of the season.

Note: If you live outside the US, you can subscribe to MLB.TV International and enjoy all games without blackouts.

Watch Playoff Games on FOX with Your Antenna

FOX will be broadcasting many of the AL Playoffs games throughout October and all of the World Series games. Luckily, you can access FOX’s broadcast with an incredible cost-effective solution. An antenna lets you access FOX’s over-the-air broadcast for free. Using the antenna can let you watch FOX and other network broadcast channels like CBS, ABC, and NBC directly on your TV without a cable subscription. If you do not have an antenna, the Mohu Leaf 50 antenna is one I always recommend. It provides a 50-mile reception range and has an ultra-thin design, meaning it will look great in your living room.

If you are interested in recording the MLB playoff games during the postseason, a DVR will let you do that and enable you to re-watch the games whenever you’d like. The Tablo is my favorite and it lets you pause, rewind, fast-forward, and of course record all of the TV broadcasts you pull in on your antenna. Plus, Tablo can connect to your phone, tablet, or streaming device and let you watch your recordings and live antenna TV directly on your devices anywhere you go. This means you could watch the MLB Playoffs online no matter where you are this October! Check out our DVR comparison guide here.

PlayStation Vue Provides an Option for Streaming Playoff Games

Recently, Sony announced its streaming service, Playstation Vue, which is similar to Sling TV where it lets users stream popular cable channels live. It can be accessed if you have a PS3 or PS4, and offers several streams including channels that will be broadcasting playoff baseball like TBS, FOX, and FS1. The offering is only currently available in select cities – Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Miami, Dallas, and San Francisco. Also, it is a much more expensive option than Sling TV or other competing services since its base price is $49.99 per month.
